As a gift for our two year wedding anniversary, I decided to try my hand at brewing. I made my husband homemade root beer, and it actually worked! It was quite an adventure (I've never done anything remotely like that before) and I was so pleased it actually turned out well. Carbonated and not exploded!
I also made this label for him. The original itself is painted in acrylics and india ink. The text on the bottom of the label is a bit of a joke - it's my attempt at translating 'root beer' into Czech.
Rampant binturongs make me happy inside. :)

Congratulations on your anniversary, your successful brewing and your label!
Translating "root beer" into Czech reminded me of a funny story from Jo Capka's memoir Red Sky At Night. He had fled across Europe, just ahead of the Nazi armies, and ended up in a Czech squadron of the RAF. The Czech pilots knew almost no English, but when they went to a pub they recognized one word on the bottles behind the bar: beer. The barman tried to reason with them, but they pointed and insisted, so he handed round the bottles. The pilots drank, gagged, spat, wondered what on earth was wrong with British beer, and the barman pointed out the *other* word on the bottle: ginger! Then he drew pints for everyone and all was well.
One other thing: "Rampant Binturongs" would be a great name for a band. :D

Thank you! I just tried out ginger beer and I've got a way to go on that recipe but it was a lot of fun!
That's a great story - I can imagine getting ginger beer when you were expecting the other would be quite a shock!

I don't like rootbeer but this design is great - and what a unique gift :)

I actually don't like rootbeer either, but my husband loves it. Hence, the brewing and the gift label. :)
