A collaborative piece between Thornwolf and myself - she sketched the image and I painted it. A wolf, rambling through a field of oats, meets a horse. “Look,” says the wolf, “Here is a fine field of oats, which I have saved just for you. I shall greatly enjoy the thought of such a fine friend enjoying such a fine feast.” The horse replied, “If wolves could eat oats, my fine friend, you would not have indulged your mind at the cost of your belly.” There is no virtue in giving away what is useless to oneself. A spiritual piece inspired by contemporary african artwork. Spotted hyena, striped hyena and aardwolf. To me, hyena is a symbolism of the dual nature of male and female and a blurring of gender lines and roles.
